The Generocity Tutoring Young Talent Program provides tutoring to primary 5 or 6 children from low-income families in Wong Tai Sin area, and will be held at ABMSBC’s community center in Fung Tak Estate, Diamond Hill, Kowloon. The children are recruited from ABMSBC’s food bank services and families from the surrounding neighborhood which earn less than 55% of the median monthly household income.
The program covers homework tutoring, supplemental teaching and academic workbooks to 3 groups of children twice a week (1.5 hours per session). Each group consists of 8-10 children, and the tutors are either current or retired school teachers.
Established in 2004 by the American Baptist Mission, ABMSBC offers centre-based services to children and youth and also works in collaboration with non-welfare organizations such as schools, Federation of Parent-Teacher Association and the Labour Department. Its core services are focused on primary and secondary school children (after-school learning and educational support), youth (pre-employment and training) and families (therapy, counseling and mediation) in Wong Tai Sin and Tsuen Wan.
